Skills development (4th november 2011)

In the pratical lesson on the 4th november i learnt a few skills on how to produce a video. I learnt how to use a panning shot for instance this could be used to show a person walking from one location to another.

 I also used how to use long shots to introduce the audience to the location and extreme close ups to show a close up shot of for instance a prop to show the audience in detail what the character is reacting with in the narrative.

 I also learnt how to manually white balance a camera before using it and this gives the camera more natural light and this must be done in a every new location where you film.

 I also used how to set up a camera on a tri-pod and how to film with the camera on a tri-pod.

 This is a good skill to have as it makes your footage look more professional with steady camera shots and no unwanted movement.

 Another skill i learnt was how to put in colour bars before i film a narrative. 

 I also learnt how to use the effects that are on the camera and how to use them in an effective way.

 I will be able to use all of these skills when it comes to doing my unit 3 in media and i will be able to develop my skills and learn how to use all the skills more effectivley.
